Rowan arrived at 9:00am today. He weighed 7 pounds and 1 ounce. He's healthy and beautiful. I'm doing fairly well, too. I have to recommend against going into labor late in the day: it's a recipe for disastrous sleep! I did rest comfortably with an epidural all night, but the beeping, pumping, chattering, and all sorts of other noises from the hospital equipment in our room kept Tom and me from getting pretty much any sleep at all.
Rowan is lying here on the bed next to me, all bundled up, while Tom has gone to get our dinner, including a Subway turkey sandwich I don't think I could have lived without. Okay, this typing has taken all my mental energy -- here's a picture of Rowan. Enjoy!

Congratz!! He is beautiful. He seems to have long fingers (piano player like his mom - maybe?). Blessings on you, Tom and Baby Rowan! May God let Rowan sleep well at night, and may his cries bring joy as they remind you that you are no longer pregnant!!

Yeah! Congratulations Kristy & Tom!
Gosh Kristy, you didn’t even have to go the last couple of weeks or even an extra week to be miserably pregnant.
I hope your mom made it up in time. She said her and your dad were going to be in Florida when I talked to her last week but she had 'escape' plans just in case Rowan came early.
Love you!

Wow, this is a truly unique and beautiful shot! Glad you're being so shutter happy so you'll have these very early images to enjoy and share with Rowan later on. It all goes by so fast, capture (and savour) every moment while you can!
The Fifth of July is also extra special to me as it's my mother's birthday, what a wonderful day for celebrating our loved ones!
Oh yeah, and (as Kristy knows of course) long fingers are really excellent for playing bass too ;-) Rowan definitely looks like a bassist-to-be to me!
