Although I say it regularly at home, I do just have to state for the record here that my child is a genius. ;-) Over the weekend I bought a new water bottle to take with me to the gym, school, etc. This morning I was using a Sharpie marker to write my name on this new bottle. I was sitting on the kitchen floor holding the bottle across my lap. Rowan walked up in front of me as I was writing. If you picture the scenario, you'll realize that anything I write will be upside down from his perspective. He watched intently and just as I finished the first letter, Rowan said "kay!" I thought, surely it can't be that he's naming this upside-down K, but then as I finished the R he shouted "are!" It continued. He yelled "eye!", "ess!", "tee", and "zhy!" (that's how he says "Y"). He named them all, upside down, in real time as I wrote them, while I sat listening silently (and rather amazed). That's not the only story.
Yesterday at the doctor's office, Rowan was playing a game where he would run to a colored tile on the floor and name the color. Then he'd direct me to go stand on a tile of the same color, like, "Mama! Purple!", and he would gesture, whine, and stomp until I was standing on the color he had directed. The nurse came in and said, "That's amazing! He knows all those colors!" Yep. He's amazing. But while so much of who he is is almost surely inborn, many of you who love him are the ones who deserve credit for how much he knows at this early stage in his life. So thank you. From both of us.

I am so glad you have publicly proclaimed what Grandmommy has been declaring for quite some time! :-)

Well we definitely know he's your child if he knows letters and he's only a year and a half old. Smarty-pants!
