Yesterday Rowan and I biked into the state park as we've been doing lately. This time, though, instead of going to "our" lake, we went to a small river with a path alongside it. One main branch of the trail crosses over a cobblestone bridge here, about five miles from our house, and we parked the bike and walked along the river path. Because it had rained all morning and it was still very overcast, the forest was a bit dark and of course very damp. Rowan started taking off down the path energetically, and he shouted, "Row run!" I said, "Where is Rowan going?" And he said, "Into rainforest! Vamos!" This reference to his favorite television show in which Diego goes into the rainforest in nearly each episode, caught me so off guard that I don't think I even laughed until we were back home! Here's a picture from the excursion. I actually struggled a bit to decide whether to post it here or save it for a picture of the day, but I decided to go for immediate gratification. :-) Oh, and also, I know the background almost looks fake -- that's because I had to use the flash due to the very low lighting under all the trees. But I assure you, it's all real. (As are my very sore legs today from yesterday's exertion! At least it's a reminder of our fun little adventure.)
